Motivated Goal and Action Selection

چکیده

A large part of current research into autonomous control is concerned with building agents that can perform useful functions in real-world domains. Consequently, the behaviour of the system must be exible; the behaviour of an agent must reeect changes in context. This position paper is concerned with the use of motivation as a control mechanism in goal and action selection within an artiicial system. It is argued that existing motivated behaviour-based control systems do not eeectively give suucient exibility; and that a diierent system based on explicit goal and action representations can more eeectively control an autonomous system in a real-world domain.

Goal-directed decision making in prefrontal cortex: a computational framework

Research in animal learning and behavioral neuroscience has distinguished between two forms of action control: a habit-based form, which relies on stored actio n values, and a goal-dir ected form, which forecasts and compares action outcomes based on a model of the environment. While habit-based control has been the subject of extensive computational research, the computational principles under...

Neural activity underlying motor-action preparation and cognitive narrowing in approach-motivated goal states.

High-approach-motivated (pre-goal) positive affect states encourage tenacious goal pursuit and narrow cognitive scope. As such, high approach-motivated states likely enhance the neural correlates of motor-action preparation to aid in goal acquisition. These neural correlates may also relate to the cognitive narrowing associated with high approach-motivated states. In the present study, we inves...

Simple and Constrained Selection Indices with and without Calving Interval Included in Selection Goal Function for Holstein Cows of Iran

Two selection goals of inclusion or exclusion of calving interval (CI) in the selection goal function for Holstein cows in Iran, besides milk yield, milk fat percentage, and milk protein percentage, were studied. Four selection indices were composed of using the information on production traits, CI and / or days from calving to first insemination (DFI). The results of the predicted genetic grow...

Hierarchical Active Inference: A Theory of Motivated Control

Motivated control refers to the coordination of behaviour to achieve affectively valenced outcomes or goals. The study of motivated control traditionally assumes a distinction between control and motivational processes, which map to distinct (dorsolateral versus ventromedial) brain systems. However, the respective roles and interactions between these processes remain controversial. We offer a n...
